Gilvader-Wyvern Type MK-II

There never was a Tomy released MK-II version of this impressive and elusive Zoid. That hasn't stopped Mr. Aki Yoshida from creating one himself. With his help I have been able to build-up my Gilvader to MK-II status as well. Here's how we did it.

Tomy has a toy construction series known as Scitex. These sets are modular, and allow customization. Like Zoids they have a techno military motif, as show in this example.

One of the units Tomy makes is the Drillgan Unit. It kind of reminds me of the Maser Tanks from the Godzilla movies. Here it is in close-up.

Here is the interesting thing. Powerup Zoids had connectors on them for attaching external weapon packs. These connecters provided power to the external devices with a simple deferential gear. Well guess what Scitex uses to power it's units? The same connection with the same gear! This means that Scitex sets can be used as weapon packs for Powerup Zoids, like Gilvader. I have also attached my Trans Fighter Suder Cannon to Gilvader, making him one of the most powerful Zoids to ever do battle!

Gilvader!

Not impressed? Check out this MPEG movie! You will need to have Quicktime or Windows Media Player installed to view it. It is 343KB in size and 15 seconds long. (P.S. No comments about the dust. War machines get dirty!)

Mr. Yoshida has outfitted his Gilvader with four Drillgan units. Here is a photo of his Gilvader that he sent me.

If you have done anything like this to your Zoids send me some images and I'll post them on the site. If you don't have a digital camera or access to a scanner I do, so you can send real photos as well.
