Zoid Candy Premiums. These were small Zoid kits that came in candy packets. These sorts of things are very popular in Japan.
They're cheap and neat tie-ins to popular anime series and Kaiju flicks. There were probably two sets of Zoids premiums. The first Zoids premium series were to scale with the normal boxed toy ones.
They were made by a Japanese confectionary company called Morinaga, which
was the popular brand for candy premiums in the 80's until a incident
where a guy at the factory put poison in the candy and a little kid was
killed as a result (No kidding). Since then Bandai has emerged as the No.1
candy premium maker along with toys in Japan. Included with each was the
driver/pilot but not painted in chrome just the same colour plastic as the
Zoids it came with. There were various different ones for both the Heric and
Zenevas forces. The Heric ones would be manufactured in blue and light grey
plastics and Zenevas red and light grey. No decals were included. Some of the types of Zoids that each side had (I don't know their actual
names) were: Zenevas: snail, beetle and gorilla. Heric: praying mantis, pterodactyl and scorpion. The 2nd Zoids series consisted of miniature versions of the biggest Zoids like Ultrasaurus, Iron Kong and Gojulas which you had to assemble too. Thanks Jeremy |
